I'm a Little Monkey

Do I need to correct her when she doesn't get the note just right?

I'll make sure she puts her left hand more toward the scrolls in the way you told me.  This was pre-lesson.

  1. This is really great! You are such a gooooood mother to practice with Sara!!! Nice work Sara! Yes, if the finger is not in tune, she needs to stop and fix it. If she doesnt stop and fix it, she will be teaching her fingers to play out of tune. Really, if her left hand is set up BEFORE playing, it will take care of most out of tune possibilities. So, make sure the left hand has two contact points: the "X" between the first and second joints of the index finger, and the thumb. The index finger "X" should contact the violin between the nut and the first finger tape. Also, I would suggest that Sara doesn't sing while she plays. I think it may be inhibiting her from hearing the notes...see, it sounds to me like she is singing in tune, but not playing in tune :)... You can sing with her if you want though. Keep up the good work! She has come so far! YAYAYAYAY!!!
